Flair Cares Prom Dress Collection April 1 - 30
Flair Cleaners Redondo Beach is hosting the Flair Cares Prom Dress Collection April 1 to 30 to benefit Becca’s Closet, a nonprofit providing formal attire for local high school youth who cannot afford new dresses. Customers and community members may donate gently worn long and short formal dresses and accessories at 1900 Artesia Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA 90278 - one block east of Aviation. Flair Cleaners will dry clean each item before giving it to the nonprofit.
“We are fortunate to live in a city where formal wear is plentiful, from weddings and holiday parties, to industry events and awards ceremonies,” said Gary Futterman, owner of Flair Cleaners. “Yet many of these gown are worn once, stored in a closet, and forgotten. Our Flair Cares Prom Dress Collection gives these beautiful dresses a new life and helps young women who otherwise may not be able to afford gowns for their proms.”
Becca’s Closet needs:
- Short and long formal dresses in current styles, less than 5 years old
- All sizes especially sizes 0-4 and 16 and higher
- Bridesmaids’ gowns
- Shoes, costume jewelry, small, dressy purses
- No wedding gowns
Becca’s Closet was founded by a high school student in Florida in order to provide prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who could not afford to purchase them. She believed that no one should miss a high school event because they couldn’t afford to be there. In the spring of her sophomore year, Becca singlehandedly collected and donated over 250 formal dresses and helped hundreds of girls across South Florida attend their High School proms in style.Today, countless dedicated people throughout the United States have joined forces to collect and distribute dresses to high school girls with financial need and to provide opportunities for those who seek them.
