The Giving Spirit’s 2019 Winter Outreach

Marks 20 Years of Service


Who:   The Giving Spirit, one of Los Angeles’ largest homeless outreach organizations


What:  In celebration of The Giving Spirit’s 20th year, more than 2,000 volunteers of all ages will come together to build life-saving survival kits and attend curated Learning Experiences, a solution-based discussion between experts in advocacy, policy, and academia and formerly homeless individuals. Volunteers are also invited to deliver survival aid directly to individuals on the streets, an interaction designed to remove the stigma often associated with homelessness.


When: Saturday, December 14, 2019:

      8:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Survival Kit Assembly

      9:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Learning Experience: “Without a Parachute: Abandoned, Senior and Homeless”

      11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Learning Experience: “Homeless College Students – Studying Their Way Off the Streets”

      11:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Survival Kit Distribution/Outreach: Volunteers learn how to approach and interact with homeless individuals while distributing survival kits, a touching, eye-opening, and memorable experience
