Sapphire in Redondo Beach, a gentle wave that makes for an easy day (being close to shore and producing little lines that pick you up and carry you softly to the water’s edge) has stored away so many good surf memories in my mind. And when I arrived this morning, a little late having slept in from a long night, it was sure to be another one of those days, my surf family of Frank Paine and Boris Vishnevsky already out in the lineup.
Frank, a patient teacher, was helping our new friend Elisha on a foam board, and after paddling out I watcher her catch a wave all the way to the beach by herself. Â Boris caught a few himself on his new red Barahona board (named Natasha), and for only being out 30 minutes, we sure made the most of the fun little South Bay hideaway.
