From El Segundo down the coast to Palos Verdes, art galleries are featuring new work every few weeks. The Power of Art, as usual was a big hit, and so was Flag Stop. Picking one example from each month leaves plenty of stones unturned, but the point is, there’s never a time when there isn’t a worthwhile art show on view.

“Art inspired” at the Artists’ Studio Gallery in Rolling Hills Estates featured Richard Terasaki, Pauline Falstrom, and Margaret Mohr – with the latter’s “Red Peppers” shown here.

“Shot in the Dark,” a group show featuring members of PADA (Photographic and Digital Artists) was on view at Summer Studios Arts Academy in Lomita, and included “Midnight #12,” by Jim McKinniss.

Redondo Beach digital artist Bob Witte showed his work in “Twigs 2011” at the West Los Angeles College Fine Arts Gallery in Culver City. Six other local artists, including Frank Matranga and Mariann Scolinos, were also featured.

You had to go into the Upstairs Gallery of the Norris Theatre in Rolling Hills Estates to see “Impressions of California,” a series of paintings by Rosemary Bandes. Pictured, “Santa Ynez Anthem.”

“Driven to Abstraction” highlighted Annie Clavel and Frances Lai Wang, as well as Dawn Quinones, whose “Candescence” is pictured. The work was on view in May and June at The Artists’ Studio Gallery in Rolling Hills Estates.

“Art of the Surf” surfaced and swam in three venues, including Zask Gallery in Rolling Hills Estates, where this work by Damian Fulton was displayed.

Photographer and Hermosa Beach resident Robi Hutas has documented this area for years, and so it wasn’t hard for him to fill Cannery Row in Redondo Beach with some stunning work. Photo .

Barry Hatchett has been hosting a “Beach Shorts Film Fest” for several years now at the Hermosa Beach Community Center. This year he showed work by local artist Ron Croci, whose “Temple Point” is pictured here.

Elisa Kline’s concern for the fate of wild horses in Idaho was the basis for her life-size photographs printed on fabric, shown at Zask Gallery as part of “Finesse: Four Photographers.” Jason Speth, Hadi Salehi, and Gil Mares also exhibited.

“Contemporary Cosmology,” curated by Homeira Goldstein at the Creative Arts Center in Manhattan Beach, features the physics-inspired work of Amy Myers. The work remains on view through Jan. 12.
December

“Installations,” remains on view through Feb. 5 at the Palos Verdes Art Center in Rolling Hills Estates. Scott Canty is the curator. Meeson Pae Yang (pictured) created a room-sized piece (“Liminal”) that provides us with an embracive sensory experience.
