HEIDI DUCKLER DANCE THEATRE RELEASES SCHEDULE FOR

EBB & FLOW: CULVER CITY

A free, site-specific community festival of local artists exploring environmental impact through the arts

Los Angeles-based company, Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre (HDDT) is producing a new one-day festival Ebb & Flow: Culver City, a free community festival that will utilize dance and art to explore society’s relationship with the environment. The event will take place at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook from 12 pm – 7 pm on February 3, 2018.

Curated by Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre, the daylong event will feature site-specific performances by diverse local artists from neighboring communities, free public dance workshops for all ages and abilities, booths from local artists, and educational sessions from Culver City environmental organizations. Choreographers featured in the event include Comfort Fedoke, Ryan Walker Page, Tess Hewlett, and Rebecca Lemme. The festival will also feature student performances by Loyola Marymount University, St. Mary’s Academy, and Culver City High School.

Headlining the festival will be a performance of FishEyes, a recurring live performance by HDDT that integrates dance and music to explore issues of drought and water conservation. HDDT collaborated with architect Alex Ward to design and build a 15-foot steel fish sculpture that acts as an interactive public art piece and the focal point of FishEyes. The sculpture and project has moved throughout the Los Angeles area, from Downtown LA’s Pershing Square to San Pedro’s Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and more. This project is supported by the California Arts Council. This performance is made possible in part by a Culver City Performing Arts Grant with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
