Follow that Slime! 1st and 2nd graders delight in discovering the wonders of molluscs, slime and much more in Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s week-long Science at the Seashore program “Galloping Snails and Other Fishy Tales”.
Participants will get close-up views of sea snails “galloping” and other fascinating seashore animals in the laboratory, aquarium and along the surrounding shoreline. Children will learn through stories, go crab fishing, find out what lives in oozing mud and make new daily discoveries. Hands-on activities will include handling live marine animals, using a variety of tools (microscopes, plankton nets, binoculars, etc.), learning about animals in the Aquarium exhibits, exploring nearby coastal habitats, and participating in ecological games. Register now as classes are limited in size to ensure individual attention.
There is a session being offered Monday, June 25 through Friday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The cost is $85 ($77 FRIENDS member) and includes a Science at the Seashore t-shirt.
Parking is $1 per hour and free to members of the Friends of CMA. The Aquarium is located at 3720 Stephen M. White Drive in San Pedro and is a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks with support from Friends of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.
CMA is open to the public and displays local marine life of Southern California, with hours on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
