Falconer James Andrade and his hawk Richter were scaring away pigeons and seagulls from the Beach House Hotel on the Hermosa Beach Strand Monday morning. The falconer and his bird visit the Beach House twice a week to discourage pigeons from nesting and sea gulls from eating on the roof of the hotel.
Twice a week, Andrade said, is often enough to make other birds fearful of visiting the hotel.
“If you see a serial killer in the neighborhood enough times, you stay away,” Andrade explained.
