A family of three was killed last Wednesday night along the Esplanade in what Redondo Beach Police believe was a double-murder and suicide.

According to RBPD Lt. Rick Kochheim, Marc Waz, 43, is believed to have shot and killed his wife Ivana, 43 and son Makani, 13, before dying by suicide.

Police were called to the family’s home on the 700 block of Esplanade after dispatchers received a call of shots fired at 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers found one person unresponsive at the scene and found two others dead inside the home. All appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds.

Police believe there to be no other suspects.

An online memorial fund, hosted by LA Galaxy South Bay, has raised more than $20,000 in their honor. Makani played in a LAGSB team, and Ivana was a club booster.

Anyone with information related to the crime is asked to call RBPD’s tipline, at (310) 937-6685, text (310) 339-2362, or email crimetips@redondo.org.
