Geoff Hirsh, Hermosa Beach’s most effective ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) advocate, passed away over the weekend at his home in Marineland Mobile Park. After becoming wheelchair bound as the result of a stroke seven years ago, Hirsh devoted himself to making the Beach Cities more accessible to the handcapped. He spent five years in an ultimately successful fight to get mobility mats placed on the sand in Hermosa. Most recently he campaigned for mobility mats on the Green Belt. ER
