Girls basketball season tips off with a Battle at the Beach

Redondo’s girls basketball program begins its quest for back-to-back CIF titles hosting the 10th Annual Battle at the Beach tournament held Monday through Saturday.

Each of the 16 teams competing in the Platinum Bracket reached the playoffs last season including CIF champions Windward (Div. 1AA), West Torrance (Div. 1A), Redondo (Div. 2AA), North Torrance (Div. 3AA) and Bishop Montgomery (Div. 4AA).

Competing in the Platinum Bracket will be Long Beach Poly, St. Anthony, Mira Costa, West Torrance, Centennial/Corona, Carson, Troy, North Torrance, Harvard-Westlake, Crenshaw, Serra, Lynwood, Windward, Bishop Montgomery, Redondo and Edison.

Action begins Monday at 3:30 p.m. Redondo opens with a 6:30 p.m. contest with Edison. Rival Mira Costa follows with an 8 p.m. game against West Torrance.

Platinum Bracket play continues Wednesday, Friday and Saturday concluding with the championship game at 6 p.m.

Eight teams will be competing in the Gold Bracket beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m..

Pool A consists of Lawndale, Narbonne, Peninsula and Valley Christian. Competing in Pool B will be Inglewood, Marlborough, Redondo JV and Torrance.

The Gold Bracket championship game will tip off at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.
