City of Hermosa Beach
SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 13-1344
Every three years, the California Building Standards Commission revises and adopts the California Building, Residential, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Green Building Standards and Fire Codes. Cities are obligated to adopt these Codes by reference as their local building, residential, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, energy, green building standards and fire codes, along with any amendments required to address uniquely local conditions, within 180 days of adoption. As required by State law, Ordinance No. 13-1344adopts the 2013 California Building, Residential, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Green Building Standards and Fire Codes by reference as the City of Hermosa Beach Building, Residential, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Green Building Standards and Fire Codes, subject to various amendments largely already contained in the Municipal Code. The new amendments pertain to the protection of adjoining properties during construction, roofing materials, sprinkler requirements, energy efficiency requirements (including application of certain requirements to expansions/remodels exceeding 50%) and various technical issues.
