Hermosa Beach Police Beat

Tow truck theft attempt

Unknown suspects used a tow truck in what was apparently an attempted car theft last month, police said. About 11:30 p.m. on June 23, a resident in the 1100 block of 15th Street, near Prospect Ave., heard a noise outside his home and saw two people attempting to tow the resident’s vehicle, parked outside, police said. The resident confronted the two suspects, who claimed that the resident was delinquent in payments on the car. The resident denied this, and threatened to call the police, according to police reports. The suspects then lowered the resident’s car and fled the scene.

Skateboard assault

A man was injured after being hit on the head with a skateboard in South Hermosa last month, police said. On the afternoon of June 26, the victim was walking near Kay Etow Park, at the intersection of Herondo Ave. and Monterey Blvd., when the assailant hit him twice with a skateboard in the back of the head. The victim skated to the police station to report the crime and receive treatment for his injuries.
