Hermosa Beach Police Beat

Motorist arrested

An intoxicated woman was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer in northeast Hermosa last week, after she allegedly almost ran over a skateboarder.

On the evening of June 15, police received reports of a woman driving with part of her vehicle on the sidewalk, and nearly hitting a passing skateboarder, according to police reports. About 9 p.m., police found the suspect vehicle parked in the 1200 block of 24th Street, near the intersection with Prospect Avenue.

Officers approached the vehicle, and discovered that the woman was asleep in the front passenger seat, police said. Officers determined that she was intoxicated to the point of being “unable to care for herself.”

The woman refused to comply with officer requests, and resisted during arrest, police said.

From one store to another

A suspect took a woman’s wallet from inside her purse at Trader Joe’s last week, then later used one of the woman’s credit cards to go shopping elsewhere, police said.

The theft occurred about 7 p.m. on June 15 at the Trader Joe’s at the Park Pacific Shopping Center on Pacific Coast Highway, police said. The suspect then used one of the victim’s credit cards at a target in Hawthorne.
