Motorcycle accident update

Hermosa Beach resident Cameron King remained in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center earlier this week following a collision between his motorcycle and an SUV on Sepulveda Boulevard, in Manhattan Beach.

The accident that closed the northbound lanes happened around 4:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at Tennyson Street, just north of Artesia Boulevard.

Manhattan Beach Police Lt. Andy Harrod said the motorcyclist was headed northbound in the left hand lane on Sepulveda when he broadsided a Mercedes SUV turning left onto Tennyson from the southbound lanes.

King, who was wearing a helmet, reportedly suffered several broken bones and head trauma.

Police arrived on the scene and found an off-duty paramedic tending to the motorcyclist, who underwent surgery at Harbor following the accident.

The driver of the small SUV was not injured, police said.

Hermosa Beach police assisted Manhattan Beach police in the investigation. The northbound lanes of Sepulveda Boulevard were closed for several hours from Artesia Boulevard to Keats Street.
