2014 Countdown at R10/Social House
The Redondo Beach harbor area is becoming more of a destination of late, and that trend was amplified in December as the much-anticipated R10/Social House opened, featuring farm-to-table cuisine and handcrafted drinks in an unpretentious, waterman-friendly environment (the R10 is the buoy that marks the last leg in the famed Catalina Classic paddleboard race in which restaurant owner George Loren is a regular competitor). R10 will feature happy hour all night long on New Year’s Eve, an excellent opportunity to check out the new venue.
Roaring Twenties New Year’s Eve Party at Circa: 6 p.m. – 2 a.m.

A Chinese New Year’s Eve: China Grill & W’s China Bistro
The Chong brothers’s signature South Bay restaurants are utterly unique, fusing traditional Chinese food with some sly undercurrents from the family’s native Peru, and hence are always a favorite NYE destination for those who want an atypical celebration of the New Year. Both locations are taking reservations for a special dinner to bring in the New Year.

Lido di Manhattan New Year’s Eve Celebration
Lisa Hemmat’s Lido di Manhattan has been described by ER food critic Richard Foss as one of the “hidden jewels of the South Bay,” and fittingly enough the restaurant that reached larger fame on Chef Gordon Ramsey’s television show is offering a beautifully low key New Year’s Eve — early dinner seatings, a three course celebratory meal, a jazz duo featuring Lido’s own Tatiana Erse, and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Hermosa Beach New Year’s Celebration: Begins at 8 p.m.
The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a New Year’s Eve Celebration at Pier Plaza in Hermosa Beach on Tuesday, December 31st beginning at 8:00 p.m. Lou Giovannetti and His Big Band will be the featured performers. Inspired by Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett among others, Lou and his 18 piece orchestra will sing the iconic standards of the American big-band. The festivities will feature two countdowns to the New Year with the live ball drop in Times Square New York on a 9×12 foot video screen.
