Hermosa Beach: ex-boyfriend nabbed

Hermosa Beach Police DepartmentA Hermosa man was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, after he allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend and held her at a home against her will, placing a knife to her throat and threatening to kill her if she left.

Officers went to thePalm Drivehome about 4 p.m. Monday after receiving information that a woman had been beaten and was being held by her ex-boyfriend, Hermosa Beach Police Sgt. Robert Higgins said.

“Upon arrival, HBPD officers discovered the victim with face injuries inside the residence in question. The suspect had left the scene prior to HBPD officers’ arrival,” Higgins said.

“The victim told officers that the suspect had beaten her and held her at the location against her will. The suspect held her at the location with a knife to her throat for approximately three hours, threatening to kill her if she tried to leave,” he said.

“Ultimately the suspect left the location, with HBPD officers responding a short time later,” he said. “HBPD detectives were able to coax the suspect out of his own residence, also in Hermosa Beach, and take him into custody without incident.”

The woman suffered moderate to severe facial bruises and a possible broken nose, police said.
