Drug agents swoop down on school

A DEA helicopter swooped down to land at Hermosa Valley School, where special agents spoke to the students and let them handle shields, helmets, bullet armor and rams used for battering down doors .

The event was part of the National Red Ribbon Campaign honoring Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who was tortured and murdered in Mexico in 1985.

U.S. officials say Camarena, 37, was close to uncovering a multi-billon dollar drug pipeline in 1985, when he was kidnapped on the way to a luncheon with his wife, Mika.

He was surrounded by five armed men who threw him into a car and sped away. That was the last time any but his kidnappers would see him alive. It is believed that Camarena’s death occurred two days later. ER
