By the pint
About 50 donors gave 32 pints of blood April 17 at the Clark Building on Valley Drive. The blood was given for the Providence Blood Donor Center, for use in the community.
Donors received tickets to The Comedy & Magic Club and free food from Pita Pit, and snacks were provided by Whole Foods Market.
Firefighters honored
The Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association celebrates the careers of four recent retirees from the department 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Elks Lodge, 316 Esplanade, Redondo Beach.
The retirees are Capt. Brian Scot and firefighter-paramedics Paul Hawkins, Kim Bridges and Lee Lickhalter.
Cost is $25 which includes dinner and gift to retirees. A no-host bar will be available.

Guadalupe fiesta
Our Lady of Guadalupe Hermosa Beach Fiesta 2011 kicks off 5 p.m. Friday, May 13 and runs through Sunday, May 15, marking the church school’s 50th anniversary.
The fiesta will feature games, prizes, carnival rides, a silent auction, live music, and a wide variety of food. For grown-ups, a beer garden will also include a wine tasting section.
Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
