Suspect sought

Hermosa police were seeking a suspect in the armed robbery of an ARCO gas station at Pacific Coast Highway and 11th Street near the Community Center, who is suspected of robbing another Arco station in Torrance and a 7-Eleven store in Manhattan Beach as well.

The Hermosa robbery occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Friday.

The suspect is described as male, possibly Asian, in his early 20s, about 5-feet-10 and 155 pounds, seen wearing blue, jeans, a dark hooded sweatshirt and leather jacket, and carrying a light blue backpack.

He was seen driving a silver four-door sedan.

Police urge anyone who may have seen the suspect or vehicle in the area of PCH between Pier Avenue and 11th Street, or in the surrounding area, to contact Detective David Bohacik at 310-318-0330.

Emergency response

Brandy Welch, American Red Cross partner services manager, will speak at the monthly meeting of the CERT civilian emergency response organization 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 at the city’s Emergency Operations Center, 710 Pier Ave., west of the Community Center gym.
