Murray Langston, who burst into prominence with a bag over his head as The Unknown Comic on TV’s “Gong Show,” will appear at the LA Comedy Awards’ grand finale Thursday, Feb. 17 at 705, located at 705 Pier Ave.
Langston appeared on TV shows including “The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour” and created gags for “Candid Camera” before bagging his head and appearing on the kitschy “Gong Show,” in which non-celebrity contestants took the stage until the sound of a gong ended their often quirky performances.
He has appeared in numerous movies including 2002’s well-received “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.”
“LA Comedy Awards is proud and honored to recognize one of the all-time greats,” producer Max Worthington said.
The show will feature the annual presentation of awards, “special videos and a red carpet photo session.” The voting academy consists of previous LACA recipients, advisory board members and comedy club proprietors.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10. For more see the LA Comedy Awards’ Facebook page. ER
