Hermosa woman dies from gunshot [UPDATED]

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sergeant Troy Ewing (center) and fellow homicide investigators confer at the scene of the shooting.

Police have identified the woman who died in her Eighth Street home from a gun shot Tuesday night. Pamela Walsh, 43, died shortly after 11 p.m. The victim’s husband asked neighbors to call the police, and the initial call to police said that there had been a suicide at 638 Eighth Street. But Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting as a possible homicide.

Paramedics carried Walsh from her home, and rushed her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide investigator Troy Ewing, who was investigating the shooting Wednesday morning, said the husband was being questioned, but had not been arrested.

Neighbors said the couple had only lived on the block for a short time, about three months. One neighbor said there was a “ruckus” inside the home shortly before the gunshot was heard.

On Wednesday, sheriff’s deputies were removing items from the home as part of their investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
