The National Weather Service issued a high surf warning for the beaches of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, which include Hermosa, Manhattan and Redondo beaches, between tomorrow at 5 p.m. and Friday at 5 p.m.
“The surf may cause hazards for anyone entering the water,” according to a National Weather Service release.
Originating off the coast of New Zealand, a powerful storm has crossed most of the Pacific Ocean and is headed toward the beaches of Southern California, according to the release. High surf can produce rip currents and beach erosion.
Waves between seven to nine feet, and possibly reaching 11 feet, are likely to break on Thursday.
