High winds caused power outages in nearly 2,500 homes in Manhattan Beach at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Southern California Edison. The majority of the homes affected are located near Manhattan Beach Boulevard and North Aviation Boulevard. Edison is in the process of completing repairs and anticipates restoring the power by 11 p.m. tonight.
The weather also caused six trees to fall as of 9 p.m. last night, including one that fell on top of a car, said City Manager Dave Carmany. Power lines were down on Rosecrans Avenue and there was a flare stack fire at Chevron. “It was a very busy night for Public Works,” Carmany said. “A lot of people working overtime.”
There were reportedly no injuries in Manhattan Beach, Carmany said.
