Running: The 38th running of the Manhattan Beach 10K takes place Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 a.m. Entry fees are $35 (adults) and $39 (youth under 15). The Jimmy Miller Surf Fiest presented by Fresh Brothers is Sunday, Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 42nd Street in Manhattan Beach. Paddleboard: The Third Annual Beyond the Shore Stand Up Paddleboard Festival takes place this  Sunday, Oct. 4 at Seaside Lagoon. At 8:30 a.m., an attempt will be made to set the Guinness World Record for the largest SUP yoga class. The festival also includes an elite 4.5 mile race with cash prizes, a two mile fun race, team relays and kids races. Board demos, live music and health and fitness demonstrations will fill out the all day festival.

 

Triathlon: Registration is open for the Day at the Beach Triathlon to be held at 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18 in Hermosa Beach. The event includes a 1/4 mile ocean swim, 10 mile bike and 3 mile run. Fees are $125 (individual) and $180 (relay). For more information, visit dayatthebeachtri.com.

 

Basketball: Online registration is open for the Hermosa Beach Youth Basketball’s (HBYB) winter season, open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Try-outs are mandatory but everyone plays regardless of skill. Tryouts held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11-12 (visit hbyb.net for times and location).
