Pack your bags, we’re going on a trip down the street

Holidaying at home is becoming increasingly popular nowadays. As prices soar for all kinds of things, people are finding that they’re needing to cut back on luxuries like long-haul flights and expensive villas. Instead, lots are opting to stay local to them, not only does this save money, but it helps you to discover new places in your neighbourhood, which might become firm favourites. This trend towards vacationing locally is also doing wonders for the environment, thanks to reduced travel emissions. if you really need a third reason to try holidaying at home this year then consider this, you live in Los Angeles! So many people flock to this county for their yearly vacation, but you have all of the good stuff on your doorstep. So, if you like the idea, here’s our guide to organizing a great local vacation this year.

Explore Bluff Cove

Living by the beach it’s easy to forget just how perfect a day out it can make. There are so many beaches along this stretch of coast that unless you’ve lived here all your life and you’re about 102, then the chances are you’ve not found them all yet. One particularly beautiful and slightly hidden bit of beach is Bluff Cove. This cove is beautiful at sunset, but it’s also a great spot for surfing and paddle boarding during the day. If you’re not much of a water sports person then you can hike around the trailhead instead to explore Flat Rock Point, a stunning natural vantage point to look out to the ocean beyond. Take a picnic with you and once you’ve finished your activities for the day, stop to watch the sun go down.

Stay at the Commerce Hotel

Staying somewhere outside of your home is a great idea if you have a bit extra in the budget. In terms of hotels with fancy facilities and close proximity to all of the activities, the Commerce Hotel is a great option. As well as boasting enormous rooms with Egyptian cotton sheets, luxurious wet rooms, and king-size beds, they also boast some entertainment facilities too.

The spa is beautiful here and the basics are free for guests to use, whilst massages are available as upgrades. They also have one of the largest casinos in the area, where it’s possible to play both slot machines and table games. Of course, if you’re feeling a little wiped out after the day’s activities then there’s no shame in heading upstairs for an early night. If you don’t want to miss out on the fun of the casino then the Commerce is very happy for you to use their free Wi-Fi to game the night away from the comfort of your own room instead. Those who want to stick to casino-style gaming can inform themselves about the best casino bonuses by browsing through Asiabet’s listings of exactly what is available. They review each casino individually for factors like the variety of games, as well as the countries in which each bonus is available so that their readers can always feel well informed.

Eat at Zam Zam Market

There’s always something delicious bubbling away at Zam Zam’s

Los Angeles is lucky to have a vibrant community that’s made up of people from all different cultures. Not only does this make for exciting markets, more enriching shopping experiences, and plenty to love about your neighbours, but it also means there’s absolutely loads of great foreign food to discover. When we consider what America tastes like, we often think about Southern soul food, the famous hamburger, and plenty of ice cream, but modern-day America has so much more to offer than that and that’s why for our restaurant recommendation we’re heading to Zam Zam. This isn’t a white pressed tablecloth and waiter service restaurant, but rather a small eatery with a counter that’s manned by a one-man band of a woman. Ask her what’s cooking, or even better ask for a medley of all of it, and in a short while, you’ll be given a huge plate of all kinds of goodies. Although Zam Zam’s has no menu, there’s always traditional Pakistani food on offer, which always consists of curry or two, often heavily spiced kebabs, and occasionally tandoori, naan or parathas, a soupy lentil dish, and even sometimes condensed milk sweets. If you want fine dining then Zam Zam’s probably isn’t the place, but if you want to experience authentic food (and lot’s of it) that’s cooked with love and will leave you feeling full and invigorated all day then this is the place.
