
Soccer: Ian Lonergan, of Manhattan Beach, was recently called up by US Soccer to attend the US U-16 Boy’s National Team Training Camp to be held in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Lonergan, a freshman at Mira Costa, is a member of the LA Galaxy U-16 Academy team that won the 2014 US Soccer Developmental Academy National Championship.
Ocean Sports: The South Bay Dozen ocean races will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 20 at Torrance Beach. With proceeds benefiting the Jimmy Miller Foundation, the event features swim, dory, paddleboard, surfski competition and more. For more information, visit jimmymillerfoundation.org/events.
Running: Starting and finishing at the Manhattan Beach Pier, the Manhattan Beach 5K will be held Saturday, June 20. Baseball: Run by Mira Costa coaches and players, the Mustangs Youth Summer Baseball Camp is open to players ages 5-13. Camps run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.- 12 noon June 22-26 and July 27-31. Beach Volleyball: The City of Manhattan Beach will be holding a Father’s Day Tournament on Sunday, June 21 beginning at 9 a.m. Fathers and daughters, fathers and sons are invited to play in this recreational tournament with pool play only. Competing on short courts will be 10-under, 11-14 and 15-18 divisions. Full-court action features 4-person teams of all ages. Participants receive a t-shirt. Registration available at citymb.info. The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) will hold the first of four Marine Summer Series tournaments on Tuesday, June 30 at the Marine Street courts in Manhattan Beach. The first event features Girls 18U, 16U, 15U and 14U divisions. Entry fee is $55 per team. The series continues July 7, 14 and 21. On Saturday, Sunday, July 11-12, the 22nd annual AAU Junior National Championships will take place at the Hermosa Beach Pier. Boys and girls 10U through 18U divisions will compete.
