Two time World Surf League Champion, and 2020 Tokyo Olympian John John Florence drew a capacity crowd Tuesday, October 3, at Gallery 208 in downtown Manhattan Beach. Florence was in town to promote a “pop up” sale of his surf apparel at the gallery, and to attend a screening of his latest movie “Gravity” later in the evening at the Yeti store in El Segundo.

Yeti sponsored Florence’s recent, 3,200 sail from Hawaii to Fiji.

After autographing posters Florence autographed a Pyzel surfboard for a silent auction benefiting local filmmaker, and former pro surfer, who was recently diagnosed with ALS. (The board may be bid on through Friday at Spyder Surf, at 2461 Pacific Coast Highway, in Hermosa Beach. Final bids on the board will be accepted at the Jimmy Miller Surf Fiesta this Saturday, October 14, at 42nd Street in Manhattan Beach.

During Florence’s appearance, Gallery 208 also showcased surf-inspired art by local artists, including Kimie Joe, Zel Del Rio, Francziska Steagall and Armelle Ngo.
