Beading Meeting

This special interest group of the Azure Verde Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America will meet from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 2200 Via Rosa, Palos Verdes Estates. Nelson’s Sound Series

Enjoy annual outdoor concerts at Terranea Resort’s Nelson’s. Live music and epic sunsets have returned at the Nelson’s Sound Series. Outdoor Volunteer Day

Guided Nature Walk

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy has scheduled a guided nature preserve walk. Attendees will be guided by a trained naturalist to discover a unique variety of wildlife in a canyon habitat that offers views of the L.A. Basin. Meet at 10:30 a.m on the back deck of the George F Canyon Nature Center. Parking will be available in the preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates. Nelson’s Sound Series

Come outside and enjoy the Max 80’s live music at Nelson’s from 6 -10 p.m. Complementary admission and craft beers and gourmet fare available for purchase. Max 80’s is a popular local band that plays all your favorite new wave, alternative, dance and rock music of the ‘80s genre.

Enjoy the sounds of Hard Rain: South Bay Locals live and outside and Nelson’s from 6 to 10 p.m. This band is known for their rock and folk style melodies with unique instrumental components. There will be craft beer and gourmet fare available for purchase and admission to this event is complementary. 

Lunada Bay HOA Summer Concerts

Lunada Bay Summer Concert Series is back. It’s time to dig out your picnic gear and dancing shoes. Dividend Growth Partners and Jason Buck of Remax Estate Properties are the proud sponsors of this year’s lineup. Hawaiian music will be played tonight by Hawaiian Music 3 & Performers 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lunada Bay Park. There will also be a hula performance.

First Thursday ArtWalk

The First Thursday ArtWalk is 5:30-9 p.m. in San Pedro. The San Pedro High School band will be performing on the corner of 6th and Mesa and the Food Truck Alley will return to Mesa Street between 7th and 5th streets. The Guided ArtWalk Tour will gather at Sirens Java and Tea, 402 W. 7th St., at 5:30 p.m. and end at the Artistry, 491 W. 6th St. Local galleries will be welcoming guests. There will be an outdoor complimentary concert 6 to 10 p.m at Nelson’s, but at the time of this printing, it was still to-be-determined who the band would be. Come enjoy the surprise band or check the website at www.terranea.com/sound-series to obtain the latest information. The concert is complimentary and craft beer and gourmet fare is available on-site for purchase.

Who knows, you may run into Eleanor Rigby who legend has it that she was a fictional character that Paul McCartney dreamt up who was based on an actress he knew and the name of a liquor store in Bristol he frequented. Celebrate Wellness

Join Cancer Support Community South Bay as they celebrate 35 years of providing free support programs for those affected by cancer. The 25th annual Celebrate Wellness food and beverage tasting fundraiser, hosted and sponsored by the South Coast Botanic Garden, will be held at 26300 Crenshaw Blvd., Palos Verdes Peninsula from 3-7 p.m. Stroll through the garden while sampling cuisine and beverages from some of the finest South Bay restaurants, wineries and breweries. Proceeds will be directed to free programs of support, education and hope offered by CSC South Bay. Malaga Cove Concerts in the Park

Presented in Farnham Martin Park with 8 wonderful Wednesday evenings to ensue starting with the live music of Cash’d Out, a wonderful Johnny Cash review. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. and generally ends at 7:30 p.m. Visit www.malagacoveconcerts.org/about-us to learn about all the guidelines and rules in reserving a spot on the grass. Although the library is closed, the library restrooms remain open for concert-goers and the historic fountain is working now which makes for a beautiful backdrop to a vibrant and memorable evening. Admission is free although consider donating at least $5 per adult to help keep the concerts flourishing. It is a voluntary donation. Come and enjoy!

Palos Verdes Peninsula Village Information Session

Learn more about this organization for older adults who have joined together to help each other navigate the challenges and opportunities of aging. Hear about the social opportunities to engage and volunteer resources available for support. Malaga Cove Lawn Art Shows

Enjoy meeting the artists and viewing spectacular art pieces on the lawn at Malaga Cove Plaza Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. There will be paintings, jewelry, ceramics, photography, woodwork, wearable art and prints. Sponsored by the Palos Verdes Art Center. (PVAC) It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, meet accomplished artists and support a longstanding tradition that is back in full gear just in time for Father’s Day gift buying!

Webster’s Unabridged Big Band will be at The Neighborhood Church of Palos Verdes for the Summer Sunday Sounds concert series. These free concerts take place over the summer months and are open to everyone. Bring your own picnic at 5:30 p.m. and get settled before the show starts at 6:30. Lunada Bay HOA Summer Concerts

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy will hold an Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve from 9 a.m.-noon. Help restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers. Enjoy views of Catalina Island while you work. Bonnie Barchichat’s Senior Comedy Afternoons presents “Alo-Ha-Ha,” a tropical paradise lunch and show, at 12:30 p.m. at the Los Verdes Golf Course Vista Ballroom, 7000 W. Los Verdes Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes. The show stars comedians Michael Preminger, Monica Piper, James P. Connolly and Don McMillan. Tickets are $85, which includes a three-course lunch and the show. Gathering for the Grand

The 14th Annual Gathering for the Grand Gala will be held at 5 p.m. at the Palos Verdes Golf Club, 3301 Vía Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates. The theme is “An American in Paris – The Black & White Ball.” Pat Brown, her son James Brown and his restaurant San Pedro Brewing Company are this year’s honorees. Proceeds benefit Grand Vision’s Love the Lobby Campaign to restore the Warner Grand Theatre’s main lobby and Meet the Music, an elementary school music education program. Guests will be transported to mid-century Paris as portrayed by Hollywood – with all of its charm, whimsy and glamour. Ticket prices are $185-$195. The Tony Guerrero Quintet will perform with Lia Booth at 6 p.m. at the Palos Verdes Performing Arts Outdoor Pavilion Amphitheater, 27570 Norris Center Drive, Rolling Hills Estates. The show is part of the Cabaret Jazz Summer Picnic Series. Patrons will be able to bring a picnic dinner and sit at assigned tables. Lunada Bay HOA Summer Concerts
