LA BioMed held its Spirit of Innovation Gala on April 15. The evening took place at the Globe Theatre at Universal Studios Hollywood and paid tribute to Dr. Yutaka Niihara for his dedication to finding a viable treatment for sickle cell disease. The evening included inspirational speeches by Dr. David Meyer, Supervisor Mark-Ridley-Thomas, KiKi Shepard founder of the K.I.S Foundation, Juanita Gougis, a patient of the pharmaceutical company, Endari’s clinical trials, and Dr. Niihara. The evening raised over $700,000 for LA BioMed and their researchers in making advancements in medical science that impacts people’s lives.
