Last week, Leadership Manhattan Beach announced that 37-year-old Wende Nichols-Julien will be filling the role left vacant by the departure of longtime facilitator Kathleen Terry.
Nichols-Julien, a five-year Manhattan Beach resident, is president of the California Conference for Equality and Justice, an educational and advocacy nonprofit dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism.
Beginning her career as a facilitator and community organizer in Phoenix and later in Long Beach, she calls herself a facilitator by trade, especially for groups of people motivated to improve themselves and their community.
“I have lived in 10 cities during my life and I am convinced that Manhattan Beach is the best possible place to live and raise a family,” Nichols-Julien said. “I am pleased to have the opportunity to give back to my community in this way.”
