Police chief input
City Manager Bruce Moe announced Tuesday night that the search for a new chief of the Manhattan Beach Police Department is underway, and is being conducted by Ralph Anderson Associates. As part of that search, the City is seeking resident input to better ascertain the qualities the community desires in its next police chief. To provide input, residents can email policechief-input@manhattanbeach.gov.
Dune restoration
The Manhattan Beach Dune Restoration project has launched. The Bay Foundation, in partnership with the City of Manhattan Beach, L.A. County Department of Beaches and Harbors, L.A. County Fire Department – Lifeguard Division, and the California State Coastal Conservancy, has begun restoring approximately three acres of beach dunes along the north Manhattan Beach coastline from 23rd to 26th streets and from 28th to 36th streets. This project is fully funded by the California Coastal Conservancy and will increase the resiliency of the shoreline through the implementation of nature-based protection measures, while serving as a model for the region and engaging the community through enhanced beach experiences, outreach, and education. Volunteers are needed every Friday morning this month from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to help remove non-native ice plant and plant and seed native dune species. Register at ManhattanBeach.gov and meet at the 34th Street Lifeguard tower. ER
