Tip-A-Cop
The Manhattan Beach Police Department and Manhattan Beach Fire Department will take protect and serve to a whole new level at a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser at Tin Roof Bistro on Nov. 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. Officers and firefighters will serve as hosts and waiters, and all tips they receive will be donated to local Special Olympics athletes. The annual event has raised $70,000 since 2012 but has never before featured both fire and police personnel. Reservations are suggested. Call 310-939-0900.
Curry girl cleanse
Mother and daughter duo Peggy and Megan Curry changed their family’s chronic symptoms and healed their digestive disorders through food. Now they are launching both online and in-person “Cleansing with Food” workshops. The in-person workshop begins next Monday, part of a three-week program that includes weekly classes with cooking demonstrations and meals, tastings, and one-on-one consultations. Great Pumpkin Race
The 28th Annual World Famous Pumpkin Race Festival takes place Oct. 28 at the Manhattan Beach pier beginning at 11 a.m. The race will be accompanied by a daylong downtown Halloween festival. For more information see citymb.info. The event is free.
