Biden fundraises in Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach residents Dr. Sanjay Khurana and wife Mona Khurana hosted Democratic Party presidential candidate Joe Biden at their home Wednesday afternoon for a hour-long fundraiser. Biden left through a side door without answering questions shouted out about impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. Following the Manhattan fundraiser, Biden was scheduled to tape an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and then attend a second fundraiser at the Beverly Hills home of Cityview investment chief Sean Burton, a member of the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners.

Best of Manhattan 

The Best of Manhattan Awards take place Oct. 17, with voting ending at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 26. The event allows the public to nominate and vote for their favorite person, business, and organization in Manhattan Beach, and then celebrate the winners at the award festivities, which are at westdrift Manhattan Beach Autograph Collection Hotel​. Coffee with a Cop

The Manhattan Beach Police Department will host this year’s National Coffee with a Cop day at the North End Caffe (3421 Highland Ave.) on Oct. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Meet members from various assignments within MBPD, such as Patrol, Detectives, Parking, and Volunteer programs.  Officers will answer questions and address concerns all while enjoying a delicious cup of coffee.  

Solar workshop

Manhattan Beach residents are invited to learn about the benefits and opportunities associated with installing solar on homes on Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Joslyn Community Center (1601 N. Valley Drive). Attendees can learn about available solar financial programs, solar system components, and energy storage. Attendees are invited to bring questions and utility bills to see if solar makes sense for them. RSVP at CityMB.info/RSVP.
