Manhattan Beach police are seeking public assistance in identifying a man they believe was attempting to burn Robinson Elementary school to the ground.

According to the MBPD, on November 17 between the hours of 12:24 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. a male subject was captured, on surveillance cameras, on the campus of Robinson Elementary School (80 Morningside Drive) setting approximately six fires.

Although most of the fires burned for a short amount of time, it appears the man was attempting to start a larger fire on the school grounds. He successfully set fire to a bulletin board just outside a classroom, which burned for approximately five minutes. In the video, the man is seen sitting on a school bench, watching the fire burn. Once the fire burned out, the man left.

Any information regarding this crime should be directed to Detective Shawn Thompson at (310) 802-5124. Surveillance video footage of the suspect is available for viewing and download at: www.citymb.info/RobinsonElementaryFire.
