UPDATED Jan. 9, 9:30 p.m.:

Manhattan Beach Police reported that Stephen Preiss, 52, was found.

“He returned to a friends house in Hermosa Beach of his own volition,” wrote Detective Michael Rosenberger.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department is seeking the public’s help locating a man reported missing yesterday.

Stephen Preiss, 52, a white male, 5’11” tall, weighing 165 pounds and with grey hair and hazel eyes, was reported missing by his family on Jan. 8.

He was last heard from by his landlord on Jan. 5. A search of his residence in Manhattan Beach revealed that he left a note behind with instructions on the care of his property.

His bicycle was also missing. It is described as a rusty, 1960s-style cruiser, with a bell and a basket lined with old astro turf.

He is not believed to own an automobile.

Preiss has resided in the South Bay for several years but is not known to frequent any particular locations.

Anyone with information on Preiss’s whereabouts is urged to call MBPD at (310) 802-5140.
