A Manhattan Beach Middle School employee was arrested this morning on the school’s campus.
Carolyn Seaton, executive director of Educational Services at Manhattan Beach Unified School District, said further information is scarce at this point.
“What I’m aware of is that one of our classified employees — one of our employees that don’t have teaching duties in the school district — was apprehended by the Hermosa Beach Police Department,” Seaton said.
“We’re waiting and connecting with them, and we always cooperate fully with authorities when investigations like this occur. Right now, I’m waiting to hear more from the Hermosa Beach Police,” she said.
Seaton added that she does not believe weapons were involved in the arrest.
Hermosa Beach Police have confirmed that they have a male suspect in custody, and that he is currently being questioned. Charges have not yet been filed. HBPD has also said that the suspect is either a teacher’s aide or a coach.
