Vehicle stolens

A car was stolen from the El Porto parking lot on July 14 between 9:30 and 10:45 p.m. According to police reports, the vehicle’s owner had locked the car and put the keys inside the rear bumper. When he returned, the car was gone. Credit cards taken from the victim’s wallet, which was inside the car when stolen, were used at various South Bay stores before the cards were cancelled.

A car was stolen from the upper south pier parking lot on July 7 between 1:50 and 3:30 p.m. According to police, its owner also put his keys inside the rear bumper. When he returned, the car was gone.

 

Stolen tools

Tools were stolen from an unlocked construction site on the 1400 block of 21st Street some time between 4:30 p.m. on July 7 and 6 a.m. on July 8. The tools were stolen from inside the house, which didn’t have any windows or doors.

 

Business burglary

An unspecified amount of money was stolen from a commercial building on the 200 block of North Aviation Boulevard between 9 p.m. on July 12 and 8 a.m. on July 13. The burglar(s) entered by breaking a window.

 

Car ransacked

Personal belongings were stolen from inside a car on the 3300 block of Aviation Boulevard on July 8 between 1:30 and 9 p.m. The suspect reached in through the partially open driver’s side window.

 

Stolen electronics

Electronics were stolen from a house on the 1500 block of 19th Street between 5:30 and 10:45 p.m. on July 15. The burglar entered by shattering a locked sliding glass door.

 

Bikes stolen near pier

A bike that was locked to a railing in the upper north pier parking lot with a cable lock was stolen on July 4 between 3 and 5:55 p.m.

Three days later, an unlocked bike was stolen from the north pier bicycle rack on July 7 between 8:30 and 9 p.m.

 

Message from MBPD:

“Beachgoers and surfers are reminded to secure their car keys in a safe place after locking the car. It is not wise to place car keys on the tires, in the wheel well, inside the bumper, in the gas cap door or any other place on the car.” ER
