On Monday morning, about 1,800 customers were out of power in Manhattan Beach due to equipment problems, according to Southern California Edison. The power has been restored for a majority of customers, but 204 still remain without power.
The outage occurred just before 6 a.m., affecting customers on Manhattan Beach Boulevard between Sepulveda Boulevard and Pacific Avenue, said Southern California Edison Region Manager Scott Gobble.
The outage is due to the failure of a relatively new cable, which Edison crews are investigating. Gobble estimates that repairs will take at least 12 hours and power will be restored by midnight.
Manhattan Beach parking enforcement officers are stationed at Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard directing traffic.
The city’s last power outage, caused by equipment failure, occurred on July 12 and left 5,000 customers without power.
