Realtors honor Councilman Burton
The South Bay Association of Realtors named Councilmember Mark Burton the 2014 “Citizen of the Year.” According to the group, “The Citizen of the Year is recognized for outstanding service to the community” and “personifies a true community spirit and a demonstrated willingness to ‘pitch in’ wherever needed to make a difference in the lives of citizens of their community.” The councilman is a retired Los Angeles County Public Defender and serves as treasurer of the Manhattan Beach Rotary.

Mayor Powell State of the City address
The Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce will host its annual State of the City event on Jan. 29 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 224 S.
