John Elway and partners purchased Manhattan Beach Toyota five years ago, but it took more than a year before the Hall of Famer was comfortable putting his name on the marquee.
“We remodeled the facility to be more comfortable and also retrained the staff for greater customer satisfaction,” said Al Wise, director of public relations.
Under the John Elway banner, the dealership joined growing franchise that began in Colorado. It now earns 97 percent satisfaction ratings out of surveys from its service department, Wise said, because the dealership lives by three important rules.
“The first rule is put the customer first,” Wise said. “The second rule is put the customer first. And the third rule is to refer to rules one and two.”
Wise credits much of the success to general manager Darrell Sperber. The dealership also considers itself an integral part of the community, frequently advertising and sponsoring local events including an upcoming police and fire memorial golf tournament. It also belongs to five chambers of commerce, Wise said. DR
