Manhattan Beach’s 6-Man Volleyball Tournament: its past, and future, debated [VIDEO]

Manhattan Beach’s Charlie Saikley 6 Man Volleyball tournament is one of the most original and yet controversial events on the beach. Only a few years ago, the signature tournament — a unique event that combines world-class volleyball with costumes and beach revelry — drew 250 teams and 65,000 spectators as it drew national attention. This year, the event was held midweek and alcohol enforcement was stepped up, resulting in 50 teams and 2,000 to 3,000 spectators. Where did the 6-Man originate, and where is it heading? Host Steve Napolitano sat down with Jay Saikley, Chris Brown and Tony D’Errico in Manhattan Beach to find out. See photos and coverage from this years tournament, and the outcome.
