Men arrested in stolen Toyota

Two Hawthorne men were arrested in the early morning of July 19 when a MBPD officer pulled over a car near Ardmore Avenue and Manhattan Beach Boulevard and realized the car had just been stolen from the 700 block of 29th Street.

The officer also found various items that appeared to have been stolen from other cars on the same block of 29th Street.

The driver and passenger, Kevin Giles Rojas, 21, and Jonnathan Hugo Hernandez, 20, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, burglary and theft after the officer saw the stolen Toyota Rav4 driving with its lights off around 3:30 a.m.

The car and some of the stolen items were returned to their owners, but the owner(s) of car keys, a garage door opener, gift cards, a flashlight, headphones, clothing and cash haven’t been identified. MBPD suspects that there are still some thefts from cars on the affected block of 29th Street which haven’t been reported and asks victims to call 310-545-4566. ER
