Mira Costa’s girls soccer team earns sixth seed in CIF Division 2 playoffs

Despite a couple of hiccups during league play, Bay League runner-up Mira Costa (21-3-2) is seeded sixth in Division 2 and hosts Royal (16-5-5) in the first round on Friday.

Bay League champion West Torrance (20-4-2) earned the No. 4 seed and hosts the winner of the Murrieta Mesa-Norco wild-card game. Peninsula (13-8-1) travels to No. 10 Westlake (12-4-1).

Palos Verdes (15-7-4) defeated host Simi Valley 3-0  in a wild-card game Wednesday and will travel to face top-seeded Sunny Hills (25-0-2) in the first round.

In Division 3, Bishop Montgomery (12-10-2) lost its wild-card game at Atascadero 4-2.

In Division 4, Torrance (16-5-1) and South Torrance (17-5-3) earned the fifth and sixth seeds, respectively, and will host first-round games. Torrance will play Bellflower (14-9-2) while South will take on Culver City (13-5-3). Lawndale (13-8-3) hosted Windward in a wild-card game on Wednesday but fell 2-1.

In Division 7, Coastal League champion Vistamar (13-0) hosts St. Paul (5-7-2) in the first round.
