Last Friday was the Mira Costa Homecoming game, accompanied by Friday night lights, green and gold school spirit, and the heavily anticipated announcement of the Homecoming king and queen.
Mira Costa juniors and seniors elected ten Homecoming princes and princesses who were paired together randomly and then assigned various costumes throughout the week.
Although Homecoming king and queen are not voted in pairs, Mira Costa seniors voted partners Jack Allen and Sarah Kennedy as 2014’s Homecoming king and queen.
As president of the bands and a member of the Mira Costa marching band, Kennedy was wearing her band uniform. Allen was representing Mira Costa’s newspaper, La Vista, as one of two of its editor-in-chiefs.
The two joined hands and raised them in victory as fireworks went off behind them. The crowd immediately began chanting, “Kiss her!” In the midst of all of the excitement and flowers received, they did.
The quick peck passed quickly, but Allen and Kennedy both agreed that the experience was surreal.
“[Sarah and I] became really close and being crowned together just made it even more special,” Allen said. “It was an experience that I will never let go of.”
