The South Bay Surf League held two contests at the Hermosa Beach pier Thursday morning. Palos Verdes faced rival Peninsula and Mira Costa faced rival Redondo Union. In three to five foot surf Palos Verdes defeated Peninsula 103 to 61.
The second contest was a different story. Mira Costa and Redondo battled all morning, exchanging leads numerous times. At the half, Redondo was up 44 to 40. Mira Costa came back to win in the last two heats 88 to 80.
