The search for a missing pier jumper continues as rescuers continue to look for the missing man.

David Thompson, 22, from Redondo Beach, and an unnamed woman were seen jumping off the Horseshoe Beach area of the Redondo Beach Pier last night around 11:08 p.m. The Redondo Beach Police Department and Redondo Beach Fire Department responded to a 9-1-1 call from onlookers who had seen the two jump. Rescuers were able to save the woman.
According to a release from the RBPD, the woman initially told rescuers that she was the only person who had jumped. Responders had information that conflicted with the woman’s statement and the search continued for the missing man.
The police and fire department along with the Los Angeles County Lifeguard and U.S. Coast Guard continued to search the immediate area for the man that witnesses had reported jumping into the water with the woman. They searched the area until 3 a.m. and the search resumed at daybreak.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of hypothermia, submersion and intoxication, according to police. While at the hospital the woman admitted that her friend had jumped off the pier as well.
A dive team from the Los Angeles County Fire Department scoured the area and was unable to locate Thompson. U.S Coast Guard continues to search the area with boats, divers and helicopters.
