From July 1, Dr. Tom Stekol will take over from Nancy Kelly as the Redondo Beach Unified School District’s assistant superintendent of human resources.
Stekol has worked extensively on all aspects of human resource management in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
He earned a B.A. in history at the University of California at Berkeley, an M.S. in foreign service at Georgetown University, and an M.S. in education administration at Pepperdine University. He also earned his doctoral degree at the UCI/UCLA Joint Doctoral Program in Educational Administration.
Stekol and his wife Dr. Lisa Stekol, a pediatrician with Kaiser South Bay, have been South Bay residents for more than 20 years and have raised two children here.
“I am thrilled to begin working for the students, parents, staff, and community of Redondo Beach,” Stekol said. “Everyone I have met has demonstrated a sense of purpose and a commitment to students. I look forward to being a part of such a dynamic district and to contribute to its already amazing progress.”
