The Beach Ball drop at midnight on Pier Plaza in Hermosa Beach has joined the city’s Saint Patrick Day’s Parade as one of the community’s most popular traditions. Pier Plaza was filled with families for the 9 p.m. Beach Ball Drop, which  coincides with the Ball Drop in New York City’s Time Square. At midnight the Plaza filled up again for a second Beach Ball Drop celebrating the start of the New Year in California.

Keeping spirits up between ball drops were Lou Giovannetti and his Big Band and Mira Costa jazz singer Kira Levin. The evening was organized by the Hemosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Mike Bell Events.
