NRG and Siemens last week celebrated the unveiling of the nation’s 2nd Flex-PlantTM with the Grand Re-Opening of the El Segundo Energy Center. The Flex-Plant 10 at El Segundo offers significant environmental benefits, including reduced emissions and air cooling instead of ocean-water cooling and will helps California meet mandatory greenhouse gas standards by using 30% less natural gas than the units they replaced.
“This technology is absolutely critical to us breathing clean air in Southern California,” said Dr. Barry Wallerstein of the South Coast Air Quality Management District, one of several dignitaries who attended the opening.
