On the road again

The Artists’ Studio of Palos Verdes annual studio tour, “Tour d’Art 2018,” takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days and includes eight studios and 40 local artists. There will also be a dozen artisans in the Atrium at the Palos Verdes Art Center. Artists on the itinerary include Nancy Sewell, Susan Soffer Cohn, Errol Gordon, Don Crocker, Deborah E. Art-inspired Entertaining  

Las Candalistas presents Artistic Table Designs inspired by famous artworks will be discussed from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Speakers will include Skylar Thomas, The Food Artist seen on Cutthroat Kitchen and the Cooking Channel; Novo Cakes’ Nancy Domingues discussing “Cake: A Visual Statement;” and Lead Mixologist at Terranea Adam Stearns with “The Art of the Cocktail.”  Also enjoy appetizers, wine bar, artisan boutique, sweet shoppe, and live music. 6 p.m. Rufus Choi, First Prize and the People’s Choice Award winner in the notable Jose Iturbi International Music Competition, performs Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 in Peninsula Symphony’s opening Keyboard Klassiks concert. 6:15 p.m. pre-concert lecture by Maestro Berkson (members only), and 7 p.m. for the concert! 1:30 –  3 p.m. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Village presents the 3rd annual Upside of Aging event. Dr. Fernando Torres-Gil, a Professor of Social Welfare and Public Policy at UCLA, an Adjunct Professor of Gerontology at USC and Director of the UCLA Center for Policy Research on Aging will be speaking. He will be joined by Helen Dennis, nationally recognized leader on issues of aging and her syndicated weekly column on Successful Aging. RSVP’s are required.
